Vacant positions available within the Black Mesa team are detailed below (it must be noted that these are non-paying roles):

Programmers

Those applying must show past examples of work, previous game modification experience is preferable. Experience with the Source engine is a huge plus, but regardless the applicant must have expert ability in a C++ environment.

Character Artists

Character Artists will create human characters. Must be able to construct a high poly model in ZBrush or similar tool, then generate a normal map and bake onto a low-poly mesh. Must be able to skin the character as well.

Those applying must show past examples of work, previous game modification experience is preferable. Experience in ZBrush or similar high poly modelling program required. Ability to skin a requirement. Must be able to listen, input and react accordingly on constructive criticism regarding their work.

A Character Artist test will be offered to the applicants who meet the above criteria.

Level Designers

Level Designers will conceptualize and design world locations using Valve Hammer Editor.

Those applying must show past examples of work, previous game modification experience is preferable. Must have expert knowledge of Valve Hammer Editor. Must be able to listen, input and react accordingly on constructive criticism regarding their work.

Compiling Technician

Must be proficient at compiling all types of assets for Source, which include props, weapons, characters. Must be able to work with pose parameters, gestures, blends, and facial morphs. Past examples of work are absolutely required for this position.

Faceposer/Choreography Technician

Must be proficient at various aspects of Faceposer, including choreographing scenes and interaction between multiple characters, and between characters and the environment. Must have experience implementing choreography within the Hammer Editor. Past examples of work are absolutely required for this position.
